Question

Find the zeroes of 2x² − 3x − 2 and verify the relation between zeroes and coefficients. (NCERT Class 10, Polynomials – Very Important)

Answer: 2x²−3x−2=0. Factor: (2x+1)(x−2)=0 ⇒ zeroes are 2 and −1/2. Sum = 2 + (−1/2)=3/2 = −(−3)/2 = −b/a. Product = 2×(−1/2)=−1 = c/a = −2/2. Verified.
