Explain the difference between xylem and phloem. (NCERT Class 9/10)

Answer: Xylem transports water/minerals from roots upward; cells mostly dead (vessels, tracheids). Phloem transports food (sucrose) bidirectionally; cells living (sieve tubes, companion cells).
